Prior-year comparison
The period and year to date against the same stretch of the prior year: growth, margins in percentage points, lines growing faster than revenue and comparability warnings.
The section that answers whether the business is growing: the month against the same month of the prior year and, if you have it, year to date against the same stretch, with the variance in amount and percentage, margins with their difference in percentage points and the cost or expense lines growing faster than revenue.
A script checks that the subtotals add up in both years, calculates every variance with dual materiality and ranks what goes up and what goes down. It never calculates «organic» or «excluding» figures on its own: it only shows them if they come in your data.
Before writing, it asks whether the prior year is comparable (openings, closures, working days, non-recurring items) and whether the currency had high inflation without restatement. If it did, it warns you: nominal growth is then not real growth.
What it includes
5 sections, in this order
- 01Action title with revenue and profit growth
- 02Period table: prior year, actual, variance and variance %
- 03Year-to-date table against the same stretch of the prior year (optional)
- 04Margins with their difference in percentage points
- 05Bullets: growth, margins, lines growing faster than revenue and comparability
Controls 4/4
What it checks before writing a single figure
C1Complete data: recognized headers, numeric figures, no duplicate lines and valid units.
C2Gross profit, operating profit, EBITDA, profit before tax and profit for the period add up to their lines in both actual and prior year (N/A if the table has no complete subtotals).
C3Sign convention: costs and expenses with a single sign.
C4Every figure in the document exists in calculo.json with the same rounding and the title goes in the direction of revenue.

Repporti Standard
It comes out adapted to your report profile
Compatible with every country and framework in the Standard: when you copy, it is composed with your profile (country, accounting framework, report language, currency, unit and year-end). Terminology, number format and statement names come from the Standard, not from the prompt.

Questions
About this block
What if the prior year is not comparable?
Say so when the AI asks or in your notes: the bullet flags the growth as not comparable. Like-for-like figures only appear if they come as lines in your file.
Does it work in high-inflation countries?
Yes. It asks whether the prior year is restated to closing currency; if not, it warns that growth is nominal.
Do I need year to date?
No. If you add it as «… year to date» lines it is compared the same way; if not, the section covers the period only.
