Line with forecast band
Solid actual series, dotted forecast that starts at the last actual, an uncertainty band that widens with the horizon, and the threshold that must not be crossed.
It shows at a glance where a figure is heading: the cash balance, revenue or any monthly series. Actuals are a solid line, the forecast is dotted as in IBCS notation, the uncertainty band widens month by month and the threshold (minimum balance, target or covenant) is labeled. If the forecast is weekly, it marks the lowest week: a month-end balance can hide the critical week.
The AI does not forecast anything: it draws the forecast you already have (for example, the 13-week cash flow from REP-008). Before drawing, the script checks that the forecast starts from the last actual balance, that each week opens where the previous one closed, that the monthly figure is the last week of the month and that the band contains the forecast. If something does not tie, it stops and asks.
It delivers a native Excel chart with the band as an area, the PNG and SVG, and the alt text. If the model has no low and high scenarios, the band is an explicit assumption (±5% per month of horizon) and the note says so.
What it includes
5 sections, in this order
- 01Action title: where the figure is heading and whether it crosses the threshold
- 02Actuals as a solid line with markers and a dotted forecast from the last actual
- 03Uncertainty band in light gray, behind the line
- 04Labeled horizontal threshold and a marker on the lowest week
- 05Note with the forecast source, the band rule, source and seal
Controls 4/4
What it checks before writing a single figure
C1Complete data: recognized headers, numeric figures, no repeated months and valid units.
C2Income statement subtotals tie if the table includes them (N/A for a series).
C3Sign convention: costs and expenses with a single sign.
C4Figures in the title, subtitle, note and alt text traceable to calculo.json, and a title in the direction of the figure it mentions against the threshold.

Questions
About this chart
Does the AI build the forecast?
No. It draws the forecast you give it (your 13-week cash flow, your budget or your forecast). If you do not have one, build REP-008 or REP-010 first.
Where does the band come from?
If your model has pessimistic and optimistic scenarios, they are used as they are. If not, the prompt applies ±5% in the first forecast month, ±10% in the second and so on, and states it as an assumption in the note.
Does it work for revenue or EBITDA, not just cash?
Yes. Any monthly series with actuals and a forecast; the threshold can be a target or a covenant.
What if the forecast does not start from the last actual?
It stops: it shows the difference between the forecast opening balance and the last actual, and asks. It is the most common error of an outdated forecast.
