Actual / plan / prior-year bars (IBCS notation)
Columns with actual in solid fill, plan as an outline and prior year in gray, plus absolute and relative variance bars aligned below.
The column chart used by performance-management teams that follow IBCS: the scenario is recognized by its fill (actual solid, plan outlined, prior year gray) rather than by decorative colors, and the variance against plan sits on its own axis, signed, right below each column.
It works for 2 to 13 months or up to 12 categories (lines, sites, channels). The deterministic kit validates the table and computes every variance and variance %; the chart script checks that months are consecutive, that each column has its comparison and, if there is a total, that the sum ties. If anything fails, it does not draw.
It delivers the native Excel chart with a formula-driven data sheet and a Control sheet, the PNG and SVG for Word or PowerPoint, and the alt text. The title says how many columns beat plan and how much the last one moved, and the script checks its figures and direction.
What it includes
5 sections, in this order
- 01Action title with the conclusion and the figure
- 02AC solid, PL outlined and PY gray on a single axis from zero
- 03Signed ΔPL variance bars, green or red depending on the metric
- 04Variance % pins when they fit
- 05Compact IBCS legend, note, source and seal
Controls 4/4
What it checks before writing a single figure
C1Complete data: recognized headers, numeric figures, no repeated columns and valid units.
C2Income statement subtotals tie if the table includes them (N/A otherwise).
C3Sign convention: costs and expenses with a single sign.
C4Figures in the title, subtitle, note and alt text traceable to calculo.json, and a title in the direction of the column it mentions.

Repporti Standard
It comes out adapted to your report profile
Compatible with every country and framework in the Standard: when you copy, it is composed with your profile (country, accounting framework, report language, currency, unit and year-end). Terminology, number format and statement names come from the Standard, not from the prompt.

Questions
About this chart
What is IBCS notation?
An open standard (IBCS, adopted in ISO 24896) so management reports always read the same way: actual in dark fill, plan outlined, prior year gray and forecast hatched, with red and green only on signed variances.
Can I compare against prior year instead of plan?
Yes. You choose it in the initial questions; if there is no plan, variances go against prior year.
Does it work for expenses?
Yes. With better = down, an expense above plan is painted red and one below plan green.
What if my AI cannot run code?
It delivers the table with formulas and the steps to build the chart in Excel, and the footer says «NOT VERIFIED».
