Sensitivity tornado chart
How much EBITDA, profit or cash moves if each assumption goes up or down by a given %: one bar per assumption, from largest to smallest impact.
The tornado ranks the assumptions of a budget or a model by how much they matter: it moves each one, one at a time, within the range you define (price ±3%, cost ±5%, expenses ±10%…) and draws how much the metric changes at each end. The widest bar sits on top: it is the assumption that deserves the most attention in the meeting.
Before calculating, the deterministic kit checks that the base case ties (gross profit, operating profit, EBITDA and profit for the period with their lines) and the chart script checks that each assumption has its lines and a range with a low and a high end. If something does not tie, it stops and asks: it does not invent ranges or assumptions, and it states which costs it treats as variable.
It delivers a native Excel chart (bars centered on the base case) with the calculation table in formulas, the PNG and SVG, and the alt text. It is a one-at-a-time analysis; to combine assumptions, use block BLQ-014 Scenarios and sensitivity.
What it includes
5 sections, in this order
- 01Action title: the assumption that moves the metric most, its range and the figure
- 02Vertical axis at the base case, labeled with its value
- 03One bar per assumption: the end that lowers the metric on the left and the one that raises it on the right
- 04At each end, Δ and Δ % with sign, and the assumption range
- 05Note with where the ranges come from, variable costs, source and seal
Controls 4/4
What it checks before writing a single figure
C1Complete data: recognized headers, numeric figures, no repeated assumptions or lines and valid units.
C2The base case ties: gross profit, operating profit, EBITDA, profit before tax and for the period with their lines.
C3Sign convention: costs and expenses with a single sign.
C4Figures in the title, subtitle, note and alt text traceable to calculo.json (base, ends, ranges and variable %).

It comes out adapted to your report profile
Compatible with every country and framework in the Standard: when you copy, it is composed with your profile (country, accounting framework, report language, currency, unit and year-end). Terminology, number format and statement names come from the Standard, not from the prompt.

Questions
About this chart
How is it different from scenario analysis?
The tornado moves one assumption at a time and keeps everything else equal: it is for prioritizing. A scenario moves several at once; that is what BLQ-014 Scenarios and sensitivity is for.
Who defines the ranges?
You do: the prompt asks for them and the note says where they come from (history, market or plan). The AI does not invent them.
Can I use the impacts my model already calculated?
Yes. With the «direct» type you enter the Δ at each end and the chart draws it without recalculating.
Does it work for profit for the period or for cash?
Yes. For after-tax profit it asks you to confirm the effective tax rate; if you do not, it uses EBITDA or profit before tax.
