Report cover letter
The letter and email that go with the report: what is attached, three messages with figures, what the recipient is asked to do and by when, the limits of the figures and the date of the next report, in 250 words or fewer.
The first thing the owner, the board, the bank or the investor reads: in one minute they know what they are getting, the period's key figure, what is going well, what is a concern, which decision they are asked for and by when. It comes in two formats, a one-page letter and a plain-text email, with the same subject.
The three messages are the report's (if you ran the BLUF summary, they are its messages) and every figure is checked by the script, as are the length and whether the subject goes in the direction of the key figure. If the figures are unaudited or include estimates, the letter says so in one sentence.
No courtesy filler («we hope this finds you well», «do not hesitate to contact us») and no invented names: the greeting and sign-off follow the custom of the report's language and you add the names when you send it.
What it includes
5 sections, in this order
- 01Subject with the key figure and its direction
- 02What is attached: report, period, files and sections
- 03Three numbered messages: key figure, what is going well and what is a concern
- 04What we need from you, with a date
- 05Limits of the figures, next report and contact
Controls 5/5
What it checks before writing a single figure
C1Complete data: the key figures table has recognized headers, numeric figures, no duplicate lines and valid units.
C2Gross profit = revenue − cost of sales in actual and in every comparative (and any other subtotals in the table).
C3Sign convention: costs and expenses with a single sign.
C4Length: the letter and the email are 250 words or fewer.
C5Every figure in the letter exists in calculo.json with the same rounding and the subject goes in the direction of the key figure.

It comes out adapted to your report profile
Compatible with every country and framework in the Standard: when you copy, it is composed with your profile (country, accounting framework, report language, currency, unit and year-end). Terminology, number format and statement names come from the Standard, not from the prompt.

Questions
About this block
Why 250 words?
Because the letter is read in one minute and the detail is in the report. The script counts the words and does not issue the seal if the letter is longer.
Does it work for a bank or an investor?
Yes. Tone and focus change with the recipient (cash and debt for a bank; cash and runway for an investor), always with the figures you provide.
Does it put names in the greeting?
No. It uses roles or bodies («Board of directors») and leaves personal names for you to add when you send it.
