Cassiopeia · Annual budget memo
The memo that goes with next year's budget: what is being put up for approval, how much it grows and why, whether the figures are consistent with their assumptions and what happens if they fail.
Turns the proposed budget, the current year's estimated close and the list of assumptions into a 4 to 5-page memo for the board, the partners or the owner: what is being voted on with its figure, the budget against the estimated close line by line, the profit bridge, each line's consistency with its assumptions, three sensitivities and the capex, headcount and financing it brings.
Before calculating, the AI checks with code that the budget has all 12 months for every line item and business line, that actuals to date match the trial balance, that every assumption has a source and that depreciation rises when an investment goes into service. If something does not reconcile, it stops and asks. If a business line grows more than its assumptions explain, it shows the unsupported amount and leaves it to be confirmed: it never changes figures or picks which one is right.
It never recommends approving or rejecting: it sets out what is being voted on, how consistent it is and what the risks are. Delivers a Word memo and an Excel workbook with assumptions, monthly phasing, sensitivities and a Control sheet, using the terms and number format of the Repporti Standard in your profile; the script checks every figure before printing the seal.
What it includes
5 sections, in this order
- 01What is being approved: bottom line and a closed list of what is voted on
- 02The budget on one page: line items against the estimated close and the profit bridge
- 03Assumptions and consistency: budgeted growth against the growth the assumptions explain
- 04What could go wrong: three sensitivities and sourced risks
- 05Capex, headcount and financing, plus an appendix with monthly phasing and controls
Controls 5/5
What it checks before writing a single figure
C1Complete budget: 12 months per line item and business line, no repeated rows or negatives, and business lines add up to the line item.
C2Reconciled estimated close: actuals to date match the trial balance and the forecast covers only the remaining months.
C3Sourced assumptions and consistency: each business line is compared with the growth its assumptions explain and every gap is shown with its amount.
C4Income statement subtotals that add up in both the budget and the estimate (checked by cuadre.py).
C5Traceable figures: every figure in the memo exists in calculo.json and the title moves in the same direction as the change in profit for the period.

Repporti Standard
It comes out adapted to your report profile
Compatible with every country and framework in the Standard: when you copy, it is composed with your profile (country, accounting framework, report language, currency, unit and year-end). Terminology, number format and statement names come from the Standard, not from the prompt.

Questions
About this report
Does it build the budget for me?
No. It reviews and explains the budget you propose: it checks that it is complete, that it is consistent with its assumptions and what happens if they fail. To build one from scratch, use your planning tools.
What if a business line does not match its assumptions?
The AI calculates the unsupported amount and flags it «[difference to be confirmed]». It never changes the budget or the assumption: whoever proposes it decides.
Do I need the current year's close?
Yes: the memo compares the budget against the estimated close (actuals to date plus the forecast for the remaining months). If you attach the trial balance, actuals to date are reconciled to it.
Does it include the cash budget?
No. The memo shows capex and financing with their status; for month-by-month cash use Arcturus · 12-month cash forecast.
Does it work if my fiscal year does not end in December?
Yes: the budget year is the one in your file and the fiscal year-end comes from your report profile.
