Report · REP-023 · v1.0
Regulus · Debt and covenants
How much you owe, when it matures, whether you meet each covenant under its literal definition, how much headroom you have left and what happens if you take on the new debt you are considering.
Turns the trial balance, the debt detail by facility and the covenant clauses of your loan agreements into a 5-page report: debt by lender reconciled to the trial balance, maturity profile, each covenant calculated under its contractual definition, the headroom left, how far EBITDA could fall before a breach, definition sensitivities and the pro forma of the debt you are considering.
Before calculating, the AI checks with code that debt reconciles to the trial balance, that each facility rolls forward (opening balance + drawdowns − repayments) and that interest in the detail adds up to the interest account. If something does not reconcile, it stops and asks. It only writes «breach» if the calculation says so, never interprets clauses or predicts what the bank will do: open questions stay as «[interpretation to be confirmed with your adviser]».
Delivers a Word file and an Excel workbook with the literal definitions, live formulas, a maturity schedule and a Control sheet, using the terms and number format of the Repporti Standard in your profile; the script checks every figure before printing the seal.
What it includes
5 sections, in this order
- 01In 30 seconds: bottom line, 3 bullets and 4 cards
- 02Debt by facility: balances, rates, implied rate, collateral and maturities
- 03Covenants: threshold, actual, headroom, tolerable EBITDA decline and next test date
- 04What if: definition sensitivities and pro forma for the new debt
- 05Decisions, bank deliverables and an appendix with the literal definitions
Controls 5/5
What it checks before writing a single figure
C1Reconciliation: debt by facility adds up to the borrowings account and interest in the detail adds up to the interest account.
C2Roll-forward by facility: opening balance + drawdowns − repayments = closing balance, for the month and for 12 months.
C3Complete covenants: each one with an operator, threshold, literal definition and every figure it needs present in the files.
C4Double calculation: every ratio computed with code matches the live Excel formula (Control sheet = 0).
C5Traceable figures: every figure in the Word file exists in calculo.json and the title moves in the same direction as the key covenant's headroom.

It comes out adapted to your report profile
Compatible with every country and framework in the Standard: when you copy, it is composed with your profile (country, accounting framework, report language, currency, unit and year-end). Terminology, number format and statement names come from the Standard, not from the prompt.

Questions
About this report
What if my agreement defines EBITDA differently?
The agreement's definition rules. Paste its literal text into covenants.csv: the AI calculates with that definition, reproduces it in the Definitions sheet and asks about any adjustment it cannot calculate from your files.
Will it tell me whether the bank will call a default?
No. It calculates each covenant and its headroom under the literal definition; it never interprets clauses or predicts the bank's decisions. Open questions are listed for your adviser.
Can I assess new debt before signing it?
Yes: with escenario_financiacion.csv (amount, current portion, rate and investment) the AI builds the pro forma covenant by covenant, labelled as an assumption.
What if the debt does not reconcile to the trial balance?
The AI stops, shows the difference by facility (an unrecorded drawdown or instalment, another cut-off date) and asks. It never adjusts anything on its own.
Does a breach change how the debt is classified in the accounts?
The report does not decide that: if a covenant is breached, it flags it so the accountant can assess the classification under your framework.
